FLYING EXPERIENCE SUMMARY

Commercial Pilot licence single engine.
Worked for MIDLANDS AVIATION 1987 doing Operation Purseus (Traffic surveillance) during holidays for the Natal Provincial Administration.
June 1987 started Aerial Fire Fighting with RAUTENBACH AERIAL SPRAYING in the Zululand, Northern Natal and Mapumalanga areas for Mondi, Sappi, HL & H and Silvacel.
Stayed with Rautenbach until 1994.
1989/1990 did aerial survey work for PAJEN (a specialised weed management company) in Northern Natal and Mapumalanga.
1995 joined FOREST FIRE ASSOCIATION doing aerial fire fighting in Mapumalanga, Northern Natal and Swaziland. (USUTU Forests)
Total flying hours = 2450
Over 2100 fire fighting hours on Cessna 177, 182 and 206.
Total years aerial fire fighting = 15 years.
I have worked on more than 900 grass and forest fires and have worked and co-ordinated extensively various types of ground water resources and various types of fixed wing and helicopter water bombers.
Did a few years ops room duty co-ordinating aerial fire operations.
Did the Timber Industries Manpower Services Forest Fire Control Course in 1990 and the SAFCOL (South African Forestry Company) Fire Control simulator course in March 2000.

GENERAL

Emigrated to South Africa in 1958. Lived and grew up in Durban.
I speak English, Afrikaans and German.
Attended New Forest High and passed Matric in 1974.
Played rugby, athletics and swimming at High School.
Was on the Inter House quiz team and Deputy Head Prefect in 1974.
Worked at Jerries Motors, a Total Service Station when not doing a fire season.
Amongst my hobbies are cycling, swimming, motor cars and reading.
