 Aerobatics Extreme is an aerobatic advertising company. They are sponsored by HOOCH alcoholic beverages. The "HOOCH" sponsorship has now been going for 2 years. |
The initial introduction of the "HOOCH" aerobatic team was at the Waterkloof Air show in May 1998 when American pilot Mike Pennketh proved that a handless pilot can fly aerobatics and still be good at it. Mike lost both his hands in a motor car accident at an attempt at trying to break a land speed record..After much hard work and convincing, he had myo-electric hands specially made for him and was able to get back into the air doing what he loved most, flying aerobatics.

Aerobatics Extreme presently comprises pilots Andrew Christou and Bradley Bennetts. Between them they have accumulated a total of just under 10 000 hours flying time.
Both are professional airline pilots flying the BAC 1-11 and Boeing 737 respectively. Their true love lies in aerobatic flying so whenever they get the chance they are gracing the skies in their Zlin 50. To date they have flown over 200 displays at various events countrywide.

 The aircraft they fly is the very nimble and powerful Zlin 50. The Zlin 50 is stressed to +9 and -6G’s. Originally built in the late 70's this aircraft has proven itself as a very competitive aircraft in the aerobatic field having won numerous national and international aerobatic contests .Although outclassed today in the "unlimited" category of aerobatic competition this aircraft is still one of the best air show aerobatic mounts. The world renowned "Skybox" aerobatic team operate 4 Zlin 50's in formation performing one of the best airshow acts in the team category. They have taken first place in the aerobatic team category at the world Grand prix of aerobatics for the last 2 years running. Future plans for the HOOCH team is to also become a formation team comprising 2 Zlin 50's.
