The answers to this weeks five questions will be posted on the 24 March 2000.
1. 1. From a VFR flight within control zones the flight visibility shall be:
a) at least 3 km and distances form cloud at least horizontally 2 000 ft and vertically 500 ft.
b) at least 5 km and distances from cloud at lest 2 000 ft horizontally and vertically 500 ft
c) at least 5 km and distances from cloud at lest 2 000 ft horizontally and vertically 1000 ft.
2. 2. The transition altitude at an aerodrome in VMC, for which no transition altitude is laid down shall be
a) 1 500 ft within 20 nm of the aerodrome
b) 3 000 ft within 30 nm of the aerodrome
c) 2 000 ft within 15 nm of the aerodrome
3. 3. At an aerodrome symbol on an aeronautical chart the runway length is indicated as 14. This means:
a) the runway length is 1 400 ft
b) the runway length is between 1 400 meters and 1 499 meters
c) the runway length may be less than 1 400 meters but the length is rounded off to the nearest 100 meters
4. 4. The PIC is responsible for obtaining a meteorological report for all flights of more than
a) 35 nm
b) 20 nm
c) 30 nm
5. VFR flight levels start
a) F35
b) F15
c) Above the airfield transition level
