Aeronav's Say Again...?(15 Aug - 01 Sep)


Teh answers to last weeks questions (01-15Aug) are:

The answers to this weeks five questions will be posted on the 01 September 2000.

1: Where a right hand circuit is being followed at an aerodrome a faster aircraft in the circuit

a) may not overtake a slower aircraft
b) may overtake the slower aircraft by passing on it’s right
c) may overtake the slower aircraft by passing on it’s left

2: At an aerodrome there is not ATC, when approaching to land and after take-off

a) all turns must be made to the left unless a right hand circuit is in force
b) turns may be made to the right when other air traffic is observed doing so
c) turns may be made to the right or to the left if there is no risk of collision

3: For flights by night of more than 10 nm from the point of departure the following equipment in inter alia required: navigation lights and

a) a compass and timepiece
b) an aeronautical chart and landing lights
c) a fire extinguisher and first aid equipment

4: closed runways and taxyways are indicated by

a) displaying crosses in the centre of the unserviceable part as well as at each end of the unserviceable part
b) displaying crosses at each end of the unserviceable part as well as at distances of not more than 300 m if the unserviceable part exceeds a distance of 300 m.
c) double crosses at each end of the unserviceable part as well as in the centre of the
unserviceable part.

5: VMC minima for IFR flights above F200 are

a) flight visibility 5 Km and distances from cloud 1½ km horizontally and 1 000 ft vertically
b) flight visibility 8 km and distances from cloud 1½ km horizontally and 1 000 ft vertically
c) flight visibility 8 km and distances from cloud 1½ km horizontally and 500 ft vertically
