- crash
ernie Date: 23 November 2000 Cessna 185 crashed today at bara... eyewitness reconed it
had just taken off on westerly runway and entered a very steep climb attitude and dropped a wing from about 500-700 ft and with engine revving higher than normal hit the deck at high impact speed - a real pity the terrein was as flat as a pancake had a forced lob been required. Condolences to the familys of those who lost their lives. Why this bad news-hopefully a wake up call to all other aviators to take more care- it was for me.

Natalies article's are absolutely fantastic and I think its great to read about other peoples experiences and get useful tip's out of them. Flying is a whole "experience" thing and what better way than to learn from someone who has already found out the hard way.
Thanks! - S.A.Champs
An Eminent Aerodynamic Scientist Date: 5 November 2000 Members of this forum. It is now a reluctantly accepted international fact, that as well as Durban being the home to the biggest, the most handsome and the most intelligent cockroachs it is also home to the most aerobatic. Exhaustive testing at the Boeing Transonic Wind Tunnel (BTWT) facility has proved conclusively that the Durban cockroach is aerodynamically superior to other breeds. This fact was reinforced at the International Cockroach Aerobatics Championships where the Durban cockroach walked all over the opposition. The judges were particularly impressed by the hammerhead and slow-roll sequences. If you're from Durban, it's hard to be humble in the face of these achievements.

A Flying Feminist Date: 8 November 2000 I suppose even your cockroachs are chauvinist. Where do females figure in these championships? Serving the herioc male cockroach?
Typical!
- Re: Re: S.A.Champs
A Pest Control Expert Date: 8 November 2000 On the contrary. The female roach is bigger, stronger and a better flyer than the male. She probably led the aerobatic team.

A Flying Feminist Date: 11 November 2000 Oh - so the male cockroach regards females in the same light as human males regard human females.

SA Customs & Excise Date: 11 November 2000 In my job I have noted cockroaches from all parts of the world coming to woo our beautous female cockroachs. They arrive in containers, crates and the cargo holds of ships. Naturally, they are invarably spurned by the Durban cockroach maidens who are keeping themselves pure for the local boys, and spend the rest of their lives living in dark corners and living on leftovers.

A Flying Feminist Date: 9 November 2000 Thats right! Work the female. Let her do all the hard work and take the risks.
Typical!

Archie Date: 7 November 2000 I am the leader of the cockroach aerobatic team that covered S.A. with glory. My friend, Mehitabel, says I should ask you how to remove the vortex generators that were superglued to my wings.

CFI:Roachs Date: 6 November 2000 I believe the Ukrainian contingent was disqualified because their aerobatic team tested positive for steriods.
