    1. How long should the pilot continue to monitor the control tower frequency after take-off?

    a) Until clear of the airport traffic

    b) Until clear of the control zone

    c) No stipulation is made as to when to change frequencies.




    2. The three ‘basic’ instrument components used by the pilot when flying the VOR are

    a) deviation indicator, omni-bearing selector, FROM/TO indicator

    b) FROM/TO indicator, omni-bearing selector, glide path indicator

    c) Omni-bearing selector, DME indicator, FROM/TO indicator




    3. The track of an aircraft is said to be the:

    a) angle between the nose of the aircraft and true north

    b) path that the aircraft makes over the ground

    4. What is the first step the pilot should take on a go-around from a simulated forced landing?

    a) Retract the flaps 10°

    b) Adjust the carburettor heat to full hot

    5. If a pilot suffers severe ear pain while descending what steps could be taken to relieve the condition
    a) descend as fast as possible and land

    b)the cockpit window

    c) climb to as higher altitude and do a step descent
