The Pitts S2A which is currently operating in the 567mw Cape Talk Colours, started it new life as a Marion Cole "Red white and Blue" star burst... In March 1999 we signed the Cape Talk Display contract and sent the aircraft to Dudley Leveaux at Aviation Business Center for its rebuild.. Peter How of Composite technologies supplied us with The Full Poly Fiber Rebuild Kit.

In to Pieces Pitts S2A ZU -BIL
The Rebuild process is a long and very detailed process. We dumped the Pitts with Dudley on the Wednesday and were shocked to see it in 'Kit Form" by the Friday. Then the work began... Repairs to broken stringers on the upper wings were completed. Some of the wooden stringers on the fuselage had to be replaced as they were eroded through with battery acid.... The fuselage survived it very thorough crack inspection...In the interim the wings and control surfaces were stripped down to bare wood or metal... We took this opportunity to build some Camera mounts into the wings and onto the vertical stabiliser. All set for future filming work.
The recovering process is long and cumbersome.. Each Polyfiber panel is stitched to each rib.. One stitch every inch.. Hundreds of hours of painstaking work... Thankyou Dudley and your team for an OUTSTANDING JOB... ! WELL DONE!
